MAIN TASK: Front cover textual Analysis

The genre of music applied by this magazine suggests the target audience are male and females falling between the ages of 14-24 years.

The Masthead of this magazine is simple, the word “vibe” is all the same colour and same size, part of the text is hidden behind the photo even though this we are still very clear of the name of the magazine. The Masthead is very large and bold; this attracts attention and also makes the name of the magazine easy to recognisable.

The name of the artist is short and small, so it doesn’t take attention away from the image.

The cover photograph is of successful American artist “Trey Songz” The image is a mid shot view the front. The image of Trey Songz is targeted towards the audience, this can be viewed in many different ways; for example he is topless, as his body is very muscle and sexy female readers will find him very attractive and want to read about him. Trey Songz also has a huge reputation amongst females and is loved by many so they will instantly be interest and pick up this magazine.

The colour scheme is very consistent, white and red text stands out well with the background of the image. The colours are masculine; this will attract male readers and brings more attention to trey songz who is posed in a masculine way. The colours are also very romantic this will attract female readers.

The mode of address of this cover suggests the readers are educated , it suggests readers will already know some background information on the cover lines, stories and the artists discussed within the magazine, this can be seen in its cleverness; the magazine is addressing the reader as a friend. The magazine uses slang words; this connects with young readers and also the target audience.

Vibe magazine is a music magazine that is based on the genre RnB, appearance reputation and music are the main aspects of this very popular genre.
